Will Light ( THES , April 19) set out to illustrate his institutional merger ideas using Go. British Airways started Go as a semi-detached business in 1998. In 2000, BA decided to sell Go, stating that it did not fit in with its service strategy. Far from being an example of harnessing two disparate ventures, this looks like evidence that organisations that attempt it could fail.
