Truth isn't out there 4

四月 5, 2002

Martin Coward is correct that postmodernism opposes dogmatic claims about truth (Letters, THES , March 29). But by removing the possibility of rational justification, it leaves dogmatism or nihilism as the only option.

Postmodernism's solution to the dispute between scientists and creationists would presumably be to allow both theories to be taught in schools, so long as neither claimed to be true. It would thereby legitimise all manner of spurious knowledge, including creationism.
