The real Sally Brown stood up to be counted this week at a conference on innovative teaching in Stirling. Professor Brown, assistant principal of Stirling University and chair of the 2001 education research assessment panel, told bemused delegates: "So you know from the start: I am not the Sally Brown from the Institute for Learning and Teaching. Indeed, I don't perhaps think the same way about learning and teaching." The other Sally Brown, also a professor, is director of membership services at the ILT.
It is important to sort out these confusions early. Last year, both Browns were mistakenly invited to the same conference in Sweden.
