Ways of exploiting virtual worlds and "serious games" such as Second Life for the benefit of higher education are to be explored at a conference on 23-24 March. The event, hosted by Coventry University, will bring together international researchers and is being described by the institution as the first conference of its kind. Among the speakers taking part are Steve Benford, professor of collaborative computing at the University of Nottingham, and Alan Chalmers, professor of visualisation at the University of Warwick Digital Lab, as well as colleagues from as far afield as Singapore and the US. The event will be streamed on Second Life and the internet for those who cannot attend in person.
