The EU-funded PathogenCombat project is to hold a workshop on food safety and quality in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 16 November.
The project is investigating threats from new and emerging pathogens in the food chain, and has 44 partners from 17 countries.
The event will include presentations on the role of fruit and vegetables in food-borne diseases, rapid methods for detecting and predicting the occurrence and virulence of pathogens in the food chain, hygienic design and microbial behaviour, risk assessment, and probiotic cultures.
