Kingston questions Ofsted's integrity

Procedures to withdraw Kingston University's accreditation to provide teacher training have been initiated by the Teacher Training Agency following an inspection report by Ofsted. Ofsted found the university's primary PGCE course was "non-compliant" in the teaching of reading. Vice-chancellor Peter Scott said that the threat from the TTA was "taking a sledge hammer to crack a nut", as the course represented only 20 per cent of total provision. He said the report "casts serious doubt on the reliability and integrity of Ofsted's inspection methods".
