The Higher Education Academy has announced the names of its first senior fellows. Fourteen academics have been recognised as providing outstanding leadership in teaching. They are: Michael Bramhall , head of learning, teaching and assessment at Sheffield Hallam University; Sally Brown , pro vice-chancellor, Leeds Metropolitan University: Brian Chalkley , GEES Subject Centre director, Plymouth University; Lesley-Jane Eales-Reynolds , director, ExPERT Centre, Portsmouth University; Sally Fincher , Computing Laboratory, Kent University; Alison Halstead , pro vice-chancellor, Aston University; Mick Healey , director, Centre for Active Learning, Gloucestershire University; Pauline Kneale , professor of applied hydrology with learning and teaching in geography, Leeds University; Sam Leinster , dean of medical education, University of East Anglia; Bruce Macfarlane , head of educational development, Thames Valley University; Phil Race , visiting professor, assessment, learning and teaching, Leeds Metropolitan University; Anthony Rosie , professor of social science education, Sheffield Hallam University; Chris Rust , head, Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development, Oxford Brookes University; Mary Thornton , assistant director, learning and teaching, Hertfordshire University.
Anglia Ruskin University has named Alan Sibbald its new deputy vice- chancellor. He will join early next year from the University of East London, where has been deputy vice-chancellor with responsibility for research, outreach and infrastructure.
