Thousands of trees are being planted in Malawi as part of a project to offset the paper used by students during their degree courses. Temwa, a charity based in Bristol, is using money raised at the University of the West of England to sow 6,000 seeds in the African country, one for every graduate in 2010. The project was driven by an idea from student Kirsty Smith, who got involved with the charity after taking part in a community volunteer programme at the university.
