GLASGOW

Irene McAra-McWilliam, named as one of Design Weekly magazine's top 50 most influential design leaders, will join Glasgow School of Art as head of design at the end of the summer. She is currently professor and business fellow in the Royal College of Art's innovation department, having previously been professor of interaction design. Professor McAra-McWilliam, an Aberdeen University psychology graduate, has worked in science and technology, medical sociology and industry, latterly directing Philips Design's global design research programme from the Netherlands.

IN

Allan Walker , former vice-principal of Wimbledon School of Art, is deputy director and director of academic development.

Naren Barfield , who was also at Wimbledon School of Art as director of research, has become head of research and postgraduate studies.

James Campbell is the new research fellow in the Centre for Advanced Textiles.

OUT

Alison Harley has gone to Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore to be dean of design.

Roger Palmer has been appointed professor of fine art at Leeds University.

Sandy Moffat , head of painting and printmaking, is retiring but will continue to work in China at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
