Rational explanation

六月 17, 2010

Tony Bruce of the Employers Pension Forum states with respect to the Universities Superannuation Scheme that "there is a need for a rational debate on the necessity for change" (Letters, 10 June). He goes on to castigate the University and College Union for being "unwilling to contemplate" necessary changes.

In fact, the UCU has made a rational case that the changes proposed are unnecessary and has proposed alternatives. Does Mr Bruce consider that any view other than that of the employers is ipso facto irrational? If so, it is easy to see why "the talks ended in deadlock".
