One must presume that Clive Bloom arrived at his epiphany regarding the economy with which humanities research can be undertaken only after benefiting from the "largesse" of Arts and Humanities Research Council and Heritage Lottery Fund grants. The good news is that both bodies would welcome the return of whatever sums he accepted in the self-indulgent pursuit of his particular hobbies.
