A service not a cheat 2

Yvonne Turner's letter (April 14) is worrying. It is one thing to acknowledge that lecturers "tend to stereotype second-language speaking students as poorer than those who are fluent". It is quite another to assume that clear communication in English is "style" not "substance". What is "competence in the discipline" (of business and management) if not an ability to communicate? This is why second-language students employ proofreaders.
