Wales may no longer export coal and steel, but the new Political Studies Association's Directory of Staff suggests that the trade in academic political scientists is still going pretty well. It is perhaps not entirely unpredictable that the commonest name in British politics departments should be Jones (17), but that Williams (14) should be next on the list while Evans (9) ranks fifth and Thomas (8) sixth in a volume covering the whole of the United Kingdom does imply some sort of affinity. Third place was Taylor (12) with Smith, top of most British lists of this sort, reduced to fourth with 11 examples.
