Heartfelt thanks

九月 12, 2003

I was surprised to learn (In the News, THES, August 15) that I had had heart-bypass surgery. I didn't. It's a bit like reading your obituary while still alive.

As you said, I have retired, and although the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service has superb systems in place, it is people who make them work. There is always the allegation that the press prints only bad news. Let me disprove that. May I congratulate and thank all Ucas stakeholders, especially staff and admissions officers, and indeed the media, for helping people to change or redirect their lives.
