Nomeda Pundziene, a 43-year-old Lithuanian national living in Norwich, was identified on Friday. Her body was discovered in the UEA Broad by a fisherman earlier this month.

A statement from Norfolk police said that Ms Pundziene had no connection to the university, and the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Officers had previously confirmed there was no evidence to suggest the woman had been the victim of violence, or that a third party was involved. However, a post mortem examination was unable to confirm the cause of death, and the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Richard Graveling appealed for anyone who had seen or spoken to Ms Pundziene between 20 July and 1 August to help with the inquiry.

“I am very grateful for the publicity that has consistently kept this case in the public eye over the past fortnight, and hope that more people will come forward as a result of this latest appeal so I can present a full report to the coroner for inquest and give some answers to her family,” he said.
