More bad news for new Labour, and Gordon Brown in particular: attempts are being made to revive Robin Hood, that icon of old-fashioned progressive taxation. Not content with his own movie, he is now the focus of a module as part of an English literature degree at Cardiff.

The Robin Hood module aims "to show how a complex cultural phenomenon changes and develops under the influence of a range of social and cultural forces". And not content with his role in literature, Robin Hood appears too on the Cultural Criticism menu. Along with Berdaches, Passing Women, Drag Queens, the Body and Feminist Epistemology, he forms an optional module for third-year cultural criticism students.
