Labour's plan for a University for Industry has been welcomed by Sir John Daniel, vice chancellor of the Open University. Sir John said it was "a timely development, emphasising the power of broadcasting and digital technology to enable many more of the UK workforce to achieve the skill levels necessary in today's competitive workplace."
