CAMBRIDGE lecturer Gill Evans has suffered the first blow in her crusade to change her university's procedures for promoting academic staff. After winning leave in the High Court in August for a judicial review of Cambridge's promotions procedures, she alleged at an industrial tribunal that sex discrimination had hindered her promotion prospects. But the tribunal ruled that her complaints of sex discrimination and harassment had been brought too long after the alleged events and dismissed her application.
Dr Evans has appealed to an employment appeals tribunal against the decision. In a separate legal challenge, she has now issued a writ at Cambridge County Court, alleging that the university is in breach of its contract with her.
