The Scottish Office brochures explaining to a grateful public what the student support arrangements will be from 1998-99 include a handy erratum slip pointing out, for example, that the reference to a "shelled, professional workforce" should in fact read "skilled". It does not admit, however, that the Student Awards Agency for Scotland cannot spell its address, nor elaborate on its new proposals to raised income from "intuition fees". Did we say that Scottish education minister Brian Wilson is a former journalist?
