EUROPEAN marine biologists met last week in Southampton Oceanography Centre to pool their knowledge and expertise on artificial reef design and development. The 50-strong group, known as the European Artificial Reef Research Network, wants to help develop practical methods of improving the way we harvest and maintain adequate supplies of food from the seas without damaging natural habitats. The network includes scientists from Finland, Germany, Holland and Italy and is coordinated by the Southampton Oceanography researcher Antony Jensen.
