Six universities have been awarded a total of Pounds 500,000 by BT to encourage greater collaboration between industry and higher education to meet the challenges of the information society.
The awards have been won by the universities of Glamorgan (Pounds 95,000); Leeds (Pounds 75,000); Napier (Pounds 48,000); Northumbria (Pounds 92,000); Southampton (Pounds 95,000) and Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh (Pounds 94,000). The funding will be used to back innovative projects which make use of new technologies.
