The newly reformed Council for Science and Technology held its opening meeting last week away from the Office of Science and Technology in the splendours of the Cabinet Office - the OST's old home. A lack of meeting rooms at Albany House was one reason given for the venue, as was the fact that the group's science advice would transcend all government departments. Nothing to do with the government's chief scientific adviser and chair of the meeting Bob May's hopes of a return to the centre of government for his office then?
