Scottish education needs more representation

The Scottish parliament needs an education minister and a strong education committee with broad powers for tertiary education to get its proper recognition, the Association of University Teachers Scotland says. Scotland has a minister for education and industry, but the AUTS says the Scottish Office's reliance on a small number of ministers with many responsibilities has meant that specialist sectors such as higher education receive inadequate ministerial attention.
