* Security staff were called in last Sunday to end a four-day student protest at Queen's University, Belfast.
They evicted students who occupied the main administration block of the campus to demand the end of tuition fees and the restoration of the grant. "It was like the 1960s all over again," a university source said.
More than 50 protestors took over the building, but their numbers had dwindled to 14, who were asleep, when the guards evicted them at about 6am.
The students' union blamed the protest on a "Socialist Workers rent-a-crowd". The group behind the protest, United for a Free Education, said there was wide support for action against fees.
