A new International Institute on health and ageing is up and running at Bristol University with death, dying and bereavement among its future research themes.
Aiming to advance understanding of human ageing throughout the lifespan, but with special emphasis on adulthood and old age, the new centre sees involving older people in its research as essential. An older persons advisory panel is therefore being set up to act as a consultative forum.
The centre's research will explore six main themes: support and care, biography and lifespan, long-term care, health in later life, in-situ care and the end of life.
