The Austrian minister for research and science, Caspar Einem, has called for the 1934 concordat with Rome to be revised.

It means the appointment of staff in university theology departments has to be agreed with officials of the Roman Catholic church. Mr Einem has called this a "left-over from the days of Austro-fascism".
