Meningitis warning not going to FE students

八月 27, 1999

Universities should ensure that further education students receive the same warnings about the danger of meningitis as undergraduates, the Health Education Authority has said. The University of Southampton has discovered a gap in its strategy to warn students about the disease. Students applying through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service and students from the same local health authority are being sent leaflets, but non-UCAS students from further away were not being warned. The Health Education Authority has said it will now send leaflets and posters to all institutions as well as 9,000 doctors' surgeries. The University of Southampton also plans to mail leaflets directly to all its non-UCAS, non-local students.
