Irish cross-border study centre opens

十一月 12, 1999

The Centre for Cross Border Studies opened in Armagh this week as a joint initiative between Queen's University, Belfast, Dublin City University and the Workers Educational Association. The European Union provided seedcorn funding from its special support programme for peace and reconciliation.

Queen's vice-chancellor George Bain (above) said: "The low level of contact across the Irish border, particularly in education, damages the well-being of both parts of Ireland. This initiative has a vital role to play in developing means of practical cooperation." The centre will be advertising for research projects.
