Manchester Computing Centre will join forces with the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and the Electrotechnical Laboratory, in Japan, during Supercomputing '99 to form a metacomputer distributed across Europe, Japan and the United States with a peak performance of 2.2 Teraflops.
The coupling will harness European, Japanese and United States high-speed applications from computational fluid dynamics, theoretical physics and molecular dynamics and will exploit the capacity of the metacomputer during the event in Portland, Oregon, that starts on Monday.
