Five teams of researchers linked to UK universities have won backing for expeditions around the world as part of the BP Conservation Programme.
However, the real winners of the exercise, which saw a total of Pounds 123,000 shared among 22 international projects, will be a host of endangered fauna and flora, from turtles to bats.
Three groups with links to Oxford University, and others connected to Aberdeen and the University of East Anglia, were presented with their awards by Queen Noor of Jordan at a ceremony in London yesterday.
