A team of five experts from Trinity College, Cambridge, out-thought 31 groups of rivals from academe and industry to win the 2000 British Computer Society Programing Competition.
Competitors tackled a series of problems that included encryption relevant to e-commerce.
The Trinity Troglodytes team won software, training and a shield in the competition, backed by the IT industry and the departments of Trade and Industry and of Education and Employment.
