More than 200 internet writers converged on Nottingham Trent University this week for one of the biggest "flesh" meetings of cyberauthors in the country.
The three-day event attracted more than 40 speakers, including a keynote presentation by Teri Hoskin, designer of the world-famous Noon Quilt website and book and the editor of the Electronic Writing Research Ensemble.
Gregory Ulmer, professor of English and media studies at the University of Florida, questioned the role of the internet in academia, urging academics to develop methods of rhetoric and logic on the internet. Professor Ulmer practises what he preaches by teaching his students in a networked classroom.
The conference was organised by the trAce Online Writing Community, an Arts Council-funded project based at Nottingham Trent, which serves as a network for more than a thousand writers and readers in more than 60 countries.
