Blackstone criticises teaching awards

七月 21, 2000

(Photograph) - Britain's first university teaching awards have failed to represent the contributions made by academics from ethnic minorities, according to Baroness Blackstone, the minister for higher education (below).

The National Teaching Fellowships Scheme, developed by the Institute for Learning and Teaching, is designed to address the imbalance between teaching and research. Each of the 20 winners from England and Northern Ireland has received Pounds 50,000 to develop teaching practice.

Baroness Blackstone called on universities to ensure that they promoted under-represented groups through schemes such as the NTFS.
