Wide open economy

Affordable broadband internet access for the knowledge economy is now available to single users and small businesses. It will speed the development of rich-media interactive learning, which has been held back by poor access speeds in the UK.

BTOpenworld is an internet service based on asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) technology. It offers home users internet access at up to ten times faster than a conventional modem, ten email addresses and a portal featuring a range of consumer-oriented content from more than 90 leading international providers and costs only Pounds 40 a month. The small business version offers the same speeds and similar benefits, with a portal featuring business content. Users can make voice and fax calls simultaneously, eliminating the need for a second phone line.

BTOpenworld is to launch its 1Mbps and 2Mbps broadband internet services for business at the end of this month.
