David Triesman, general secretary of the Association of University Teachers, will today lay claim to pay negotiating rights for Scotland's new university sector.
The management side of Scotland's new universities bargaining forum, which used to negotiate with the Education Institute of Scotland, recently disbanded, and institutions have opted to join the Universities and Colleges Employers Association. Mr Triesman will today tell an AUT branch in Edinburgh that from 2001, the outcome of the AUT and UCEA annual negotiations will apply to the new Scottish universities.
