Unison ponders tactics for industrial action

十一月 17, 2000

Strike tactics, planning, publicity and organisation are top of the agenda at a Unison higher education seminar that begins today.

The seminar, in Leeds, is a warning to university heads of looming industrial action over pay. The union has 60,000 members working in higher education institutions who are being balloted for industrial action over this year's pay offer.

Elaine Harrison, Unison's head of higher education, said: "We are confident that we will get a yes vote for action, so it is critical that branches are geared up to take action quickly and with maximum impact. The seminar is designed not to be a talking shop but to give members the opportunity to swap campaigning ideas and to give practical advice and information."
