Exam body told to reform

The Scottish Qualifications Authority must adopt a culture of openness and cooperation, according to a report published today by the Scottish Parliament’s education committee. The recommendations are designed to prevent a repeat of this summer's fiasco, which left thousands of pupils unsure of their Highers results.

Study is poor investment, say students

Some 29 per cent of students view their university education as a poor financial investment, but nearly 93 per cent said it was still worthwhile, according to a survey by the Association of Graduate Recruiters.

Cambridge's share of state pupils falls

The proportion of state school entrants to Cambridge University this year has dropped by 1 per cent, though state school pupils form the majority of new entrants - 1,458 compared with 1,336 independent school entrants.
