President Clinton has turned out to be a bit of a tease as far as British universities go. After weeks of hinting at a closer relationship with Oxford - with rumours that he will return to his alma mater to teach or even to follow Roy Jenkins into the chancellorship - he chooses to spend his last United Kingdom visit as president at the University of Warwick.
Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger, said: "Warwick University is one of Britain's newest and finest research universities, singled out by prime minister Blair as a model of academic excellence and independence from the government." Beat that, Oxford.
