NUS taps parent power to back cause

Parent power is the new force in student politics, and the National Union of Students is hoping to harness it to lobby against top-up fees in the forthcoming general election campaign.

Owain James, NUS president, said: "We believe parents have a stake in higher education. Anyone out there who has got kids of whatever age should be aware of what has happened in HE and of what could happen."

The NUS is writing to all school parent-teacher associations and unions explaining the funding position and asking parents to campaign.
