Triesman calls for boycott of Oxford Union
The Association of University Teachers general secretary David Triesman has threatened to campaign for a worldwide boycott of the Oxford Union for inviting far-right historian David Irving to speak in a debate next week. Giving Mr Irving a platform was likely to inflame racial tensions in the run-up to a general election, Mr Triesman claimed.

Liverpool launches MBA for entrepreneurs
The University of Liverpool is offering budding business brains the chance to develop their money-making ideas with an MBA in entrepreneurship. The course will combine teaching from academic tutors with advice from established figures in the business community.

Scientists at St Andrews University have developed a novel way of spinning the most delicate microscopic objects, from a hamster chromosome to a glass bead, without damaging them. The technique could potentially reveal new drug targets by allowing researchers to rotate biological structures in living cells.
