60 per cent hike in US students' costs
A United States Census Bureau survey shows a 60 per cent increase in the average amount charged for college tuition and room and board for in-state students at four-year public colleges and universities between 1989-99.
Extra cash ends NZ funding stand-off
A stand-off over funding between the New Zealand government and the country’s universities has ended with the announcement of a one-off handout of NZ$35 million (£10.5 million) by tertiary education minister Steve Maharey.
