Cultural resonances between the textile industry and the web are explored on a website launched in Nottingham.
Web, Warp and Weft has been built by web writer Helen Whitehead and is supported by trAce - the online writing centre based at Nottingham Trent University.
Ms Whitehead said: "A lot of metaphors for the web come from textiles. Both are concerned with frames, print, pattern, layers, colour, nomenclature, technology, narratives, commerce, leisure and much more."
Ms Whitehead worked closely with the Calverton Folk Museum and Ruddington Museum.
The website was created as a result of a £2,870 Year of the Artist award - an initiative coordinated by the regional arts boards.
