Congratulations to Mike Donn-elly, dean of Paisley University's business school, who is taking leave of absence from higher education after being appointed principal special adviser to Scotland's new first minister, Jack McConnell. Professor Donnelly championed the business school's placement scheme, which allows students to take up to one year's paid employment as part of their degree studies.
