The European Commission has issued a restricted procedure contract notice for a contract relating to the provision of expert assistance in the field of information technologies, in particular privacy enhancing technologies.
The tasks of this expert shall be to:
a) report on and analyse the developments in the field of information and communication technologies, including architectures, models, protocols, tools, applications, systems, reports and services which affect identity management;
b) evaluate these developments with regard to their impact on the right to privacy and data protection;
c) identify potential obstacles to the implementation of data protection principles in the internal market due to technological developments;
d) explore whether these potential obstacles could be removed by technical measures;
e) anticipate future developments.
The contract is to be awarded for a maximum of 45 days of effective work as and when required over a period of 12 months and will take effect from the date of the signature of the contract. The Commission will have the option to extend the contract for one further period of 12 months on the same terms.
