The future of waste management in Europe is to be discussed at a European conference on the 7 and 8 October 2002 in Strasbourg, France.
The event is an international platform bringing together leading experts from industry, science and administration in the field of waste management organised under the auspices of the German Federal Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt) and the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME - Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Énergie).
The aim of the conference is to promote the exchange of scientific and practical expertise within the EU as well as between Europe and other parts of the world. It will stimulate contact between academic institutions, industry and authorities in all areas of concern.
Another objective is to attract young scientists in this field. Graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral students are invited to present their scientific work to the international audience.
The conference will focus on current relevant questions of waste treatment technologies and will focus on differences between European countries and the efforts towards harmonization efforts.
