Beatles give students a little help

十月 11, 2002

Archivists at Dundee University have uncovered a hoard of 500 photographs of The Beatles taken while they filmed Help! in 1965.

The images were taken by Hungarian-born photojournalist Michael Peto and were among 130,000 photographs and negatives gifted to the university after his death by his stepson, Michael Fodor, a former Dundee student.

The collection is being sorted for The Visual Evidence, a Research Support Libraries Programme project to digitise photographic archives at Dundee, Aberdeen and St Andrews universities.

Dundee, with a little help from its friends at St Andrews, is running a one-year MLitt in the history and practice of photography, which will now include modules on photographs of The Beatles and the rest of the Peto collection.
