The government is to pay £95,000 to Sir William Stubbs, former chairman of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, who was dismissed at the height of last year's A-levels debacle. The Department for Education and Skills said, however, that it did not accept liability, in respect of Sir William's libel and unfair dismissal claims.
