For the first time, researchers wishing to participate in the EU framework programmes are now able to prepare and submit their proposals online via CORDIS.

The new electronic proposal and submission system (EPSS) includes an inbuilt validation feature that will save both the proposer and the evaluator a great deal of time.

The service is currently available for five calls - FP6-2002-Aero-1, FP6-2002-Aero-2, FP6-2002-LIFESCIHEALTH, FP6-2002-TREN-1 and FP6-2002-Space-1 - and will be extended to other calls in the near future.

A new electronic preparation tool (EPT) also eases completion of the forms, providing information on the project, the partners and the budget. The tool has user-friendly features such as automatic replication of similar information, easy updates, and immediate feedback on missing information. In addition, the electronic tool facilitates the completion of financial information, including calculations.

The electronic proposal and preparation system replaces the pro-tool system, used for FP5, which required users to download the relevant documents and work on them offline. Those using the new EPSS also have no need for an electronic signature.

To use the EPSS online submission, coordinators have to register with the system to receive a login and password(s). For reasons of confidentiality and security, logins and passwords will be sent by post to the address given by the coordinator during registration. In view of the fact that delays are possible, coordinators are advised to register well in advance. If you are very close to a submission deadline and have not yet received login and password, you are advised to submit your proposal on paper in order to meet the deadline.

A helpdesk is available to assist those using the EPSS. To access the EPSS, please visit: http://fp6.cordis.lu/fp6/subprop.cfm
