Sir Gareth Roberts was called before the House of Lords select committee on science last week. Asked by a member of the committee how he felt his report, SET for Success: the Supply of People with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Skills , had gone down with the government, Sir Gareth beamed: "The government has supported all 37 recommendations. Maybe I should have asked for more? But that would have been greedy." Would it? The Diary wonders.
