Brussels, 12 Sep 2003
An international conference on bibliometric analysis in science and research will take place from 5 to 7 November in Jülich, Germany.
Bibliometry serves to obtain performance indicators, thus generating a field of tension between all disciplines of research, information science, science management and research policy.
Against the background of the performance-oriented allocation of funds, decision makers increasingly require figures on the quality and quantity of scientific output. Bibliometry is therefore a means of measuring and providing this type of data.
The conference will seek to address the concerns of:
- scientists;
- science policy makers;
- science managers;
- information specialists;
- experts in bibliometric analysis.
